Aim...
The aim of UQH is to help promote the Quarter Horse and the sport of Western Riding in the UK, through the provision of quality horses for people to learn with whilst receiving training from competent and qualified instructors.

What we do...
Unique Quarter Horses are pleased to welcome all ages, sizes and breeds of horses (and riders!) at all levels of ability. UQH can offer you and your horse a safe and knowledgeable environment in which to develop your Western Riding skills. With success in many Western Riding disciplines, ranging from Halter to Hunter and Showmanship to Horsemanship, UQH has the relevant experience to make sure you can achieve all that you want to and more, with your own or our horses. UQH also understands that not everyone wants to compete, so once you have attained a satisfactory level of riding ability* we can provide you with access to plenty of off-road hacking that you can enjoy from the comfort of a Western saddle.
Advice...
If you are simply looking for that special four legged friend then please visit our For Sale page as we also produce a few of our own quality youngstock, from proven parentage lines, and take in horses from customers to sell and not strictly quarter horses, just good western riding horses. UQH will help you to select a horse to purchase, or advertise horses you wish to sell. So whether you wish to specialise or diversify for competition, or simply enjoy a relaxing hack Western style, UQH can help by providing all the advice, training and facilities you and your horse will need to build a rewarding and successful relationship.
Our Trainer, Lucy Adams...
Lucy has been involved with Quarter Horses and Western riding for over ten years and has always been around horses from a very early age. By grooming at shows for her aunt, Lucy became hooked on the western riding show scene. Lucy became good friends with Ann and Brian Carter from Heathlands Western Centre and several other exhibitors all eager for some extra help at the shows. In return she was eventually rewarded with some memorable rides on some fantastic quarter horses. From here on Lucy would spend time with Ann at Heathlands helping with the horses, youngstock and stallions and watching her ride, in exchange for lessons. When a little sorrel gelding, called Wils came in to be started and sold, it was an ideal match. The names of Lucy Adams and Rowden Willie soon became well known at shows as they became a formidable pairing, winning many Youth All-Arounds and even showing the adults how to do it in Open Trail and Hunter Under Saddle! Following this Lucy applied to be a member of the UKs first AQHYA World Cup Team to compete in Texas USA in 1998 - her final year as a youth competitor. During her training for this accolade Lucy was taken under the wing of Sterling Quarter Horses. Sterling took her all around the European show circuit, as a groom for their countless top competition horses. This experience was invaluable and Lucy made it on to the team successfully making Team Captain.

On completion of her A-Levels Lucy spent a year working at Heathlands as an assistant trainer. At the end of this year, she then studied for her BSc Hons in Equine Science, which was successfully completed in 2002. Alongside the university course Lucy also attended a City and Guilds Teaching course. After graduating it was suggested that Lucy should take the Western Equestrian Society Instructors test and run a few clinics. The test was passed with flying colours and the idea of Unique Quarter Horses was born. From 2003 onwards UQH has gone from strength to strength. Lucy has had many show ring successes with Bit Ofa Dark Horse (Buffy) and Sierras Skip N Scoot (Scoota). In 2004, Lucy purchased the current site of UQH in Spalding and with a lot of hard work has finally completed major reconstruction that has yielded a fantastic equestrian facility, with a 60m x 40m outdoor arena, roundpen, 13 stables and individual daily turn-out paddocks for all horses. UQH is successfully training customers horses, giving lessons and has a regular program of clinics through which Lucy has attained the title of AQHA Professional Horseman.
